Preparation Checklist

Book Flights

ARRIVAL INFORMATION:

The airport serving your destination is Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar, Bali. It's important to note that this is the only airport in Bali, so rest assured, you're headed to the right place.

PREPARE FOR BOARDING:

  1. Departure Ticket: To board your flight to Bali, you must have a departure ticket from Bali, even if you plan to stay longer after your FCP (Founders' Coaching Pause). Make sure to have your ticket booked and ready to show the cabin crew.
  2. Flexible Planning: If you're uncertain about the duration of your stay, you can book a temporary ticket within 48 hours of your flight using a convenient service called 'OnwardTicket' (search on Google).
  3. Valid Passport: Your passport should have at least 6 months of validity remaining before its expiration date to travel to Bali. Please check this well in advance in the months leading up to your retreat.
  4. COVID Vaccination and Requirements: Ensure you are up to date with any latest requirements related to COVID-19 vaccinations and travel restrictions before making your booking.

Importants Note

When visiting Bali from most countries, you'll typically acquire a Visa on Arrival (V.O.A) at the Bali airport for approximately $50 USD. This initial visa grants you a 30-day stay, with the option to extend it for an additional 30 days if necessary. It's crucial to research your specific country's requirements and eligibility for this visa, as guests are responsible for obtaining the correct entry visa.

Should you decide to extend your V.O.A, it's recommended to schedule an appointment with the immigration authorities. To simplify this process, we suggest enlisting the services of 'Bali Solve,' a reputable agency with Western management known for their straightforward assistance.

When explaining your purpose for being in Bali, always state "HOLIDAY" rather than 'Retreat.' This distinction is important due to potential language barriers; referring to your visit as a 'Retreat' could unintentionally suggest a business activity. Your primary reason for being here is for leisure and holiday purposes.

Airport Transfer

Here are a few reputable airport transfer options in Bali for you:

  1. Bali Solve: The same company recommended for visa extensions, Bali Solve also offers reliable airport transfer services. They have a Western-managed team known for their professionalism.
  2. Blue Bird Group (Android/iOS): Blue Bird is a well-known and trusted taxi service in Bali. You can find their taxis at the airport, and they offer fixed rates to various destinations on the island.
  3. Go-Jek (Android/iOS) and Grab (Android/iOS): These ride-sharing apps are popular in Bali, and you can use them to book airport transfers. Just download the app, enter your destination, and request a ride.
  4. Private Shuttle Services: Many hotels and resorts in Bali offer private shuttle services for their guests. If you're staying at a specific accommodation, check if they provide airport transfers.
  5. Airport Taxi Services: At the airport, you'll find official taxi counters where you can book a taxi to your destination. These are generally safe and reliable.
  6. Pre-Booked Transfers: You can also pre-book airport transfers through various local providers or travel agencies. They offer a range of vehicle options to suit your needs.

Travel Insurance

To provide you with the highest level of care, we insist on travel insurance as a requirement for our retreats. In the unlikely event that you may need it, this insurance ensures access to top-tier medical services available here.

For your peace of mind, we recommend considering options such as SafetyWing, WorldNomads, or Alliance for your travel insurance needs. Please be aware that travel insurance is mandatory for participation in our retreats, and you are entirely responsible for your health and safety throughout this experience. We kindly request that you send proof of your valid travel insurance before attending the retreat. Your well-being is our utmost priority, and this measure is in place to ensure a secure and enjoyable journey.

**Please note travel insurance is a optional of the retreat but we encourage you to prepare the insurance for your own health and safety.

Departure Flights

To ensure a stress-free departure, we highly recommend allowing a buffer of 3-4 hours between your retreat activities and your scheduled flight. Traffic conditions in the middle of the day can be unpredictable, sometimes taking as little as 60 minutes or longer. This extra time allows you to leave in a relaxed manner, minimizing any rush or stress.

For those with later flights, you have the option to securely store your luggage at the retreat venue and continue to enjoy our facilities until your departure time. Please note that room check-out is required by 12 midday at the latest, allowing our dedicated cleaning crew to reset the venue for the next guests.

Other basic Bali facts to keep in mind

Tap Water:

Unfortunately the tap water here is not drinkable, and it can cause stomach upset, especially for first time travellers to Bali. For this reason, drink only bottled water, brush your teeth with bottled water, don't open your mouth or swallow water in the shower.

Skip food from local roadside stores / carts / warungs:

It is likely to create a stomach upset or give you a 24 hour bug, this is commonly known as 'Bali Belly'. Which you can avoid by sticking to higher quality restaurants and cafes aimed at westeners. Hotel food is totally fine, you will notice which places are focused on locals vs tourists, stick to the western choices to be on the safe side (We have a list of recommended restaurants at the bottom of the guide)

Mosquitos:

These come out at sunset and hang around in dark areas in the daytime. The mosquito sprays sold at corner shops are not very healthy, however there is a great local Brand of Mosquito Spray called 'Begonebug by Utama Spice' It is made from essential oils, and smells like Lemongrass. We use it often and you can buy it at any 'Guardian Pharmacy' 'Bali Buddha', Health Shops or directly from any 'Utama Spice Shop'.

Sim Cards and Data: You can buy a local sim card with a passport and buy lots of data for very low rates here. We recommend 'Telkomsel' as the provider, which is the biggest.

Crime: Crime is very low here, the only thing we ever hear about is petty theft, as is common in all countries. Be mindful to not walk around with your phone out in your hand on the street, as 'phone grabbing' by people on scooters have been reported. Just use common sense and you'll be just fine. The most dangerous factor in Bali are drunk tourists on scooters driving themselves into the rice fields on a Saturday night 🙂

ATM's: We recommend using ATM's inside shops or at the airport, to avoid the occasional card scam. For your peace of mind and for extra security use a travel money card or exchange money at the airport before arriving in Bali.

GoJek: This App is life. The Uber, Uber Eats and more of Indonesia. Order a car, scooter, truck, food, anything, anywhere, anytime. You'll need a local sim to register.
